Episode 50: Hanging With Roger Ingram

Release Date:

My guest for this episode is Roger Ingram.
Roger has been called one of the hardest swinging lead trumpet players of modern times. Roger has played with some of the past legends of Big Band, like Louis Belson, Woody Herman, and Maynard Ferguson. And Roger’s high-octane playing was a huge part of the unique sound of Harry Conick, Jr’s band for 20 years. But Roger is more than a player, he’s also an author, a passionate educator, and of course, the Mute Meister.
Check out what Roger has to say about how it's a privilege to make living playing music, his daily routine, becoming an educator, learning from everyone you can, why you are your own best teacher, creating the best environment for a student's education, why you shouldn't care who's the best,   not doing things to draw attention to yourself, the demands of playing with Harry Conick, Jr., becoming a more conservative as a player, and so much more.
So pour yourself a big glass, pull up a chair, and let the hang begin!
