New research sheds fresh light on migrant deaths at Spain-Morocco border in 2022

Release Date:

New research shows that the death of at least 23 migrants, with many more missing and injured, could have not only been prevented, but may also have been partly instigated by the police in Morocco and Spain. The migrants died exactly two years ago as they tried to enter the Spanish North African enclave of Melilla from Morocco. Both countries have always denied being complicit, but the research by Border Forensics sets out to prove otherwise. In Perspective, we spoke to Charles Heller, director of research at Border Forensics.
