Common Ground: Instituting Social Media Guardrails to Protect Our Children

Release Date:

U.S. Surgeon General Vivek Murthy has warned Americans that people who spend more than three hours a day on social media face double the risk of experiencing anxiety and depression symptoms. That's why many lawmakers are putting their political differences aside to unite on a more important agreement: we have to protect children from the harm social media can do.

Senator Katie Britt (R-AL) and Senator John Fetterman (D-PA) join Bret to discuss the story behind how they came together as parents to create the 'Stop the Scroll Act,' a new piece of bipartisan legislation that would create a mental health warning label requirement for social media platforms.
