387: Why Calming Yourself Helps Calm Your Child // Eli Harwood

Release Date:

This bonus excerpt is one I pulled from Eli's full episode that dropped earlier this week. (If you haven't had a chance to listen, I highly recommend it. It's one of the most value-packed conversations I've had on 3 in 30!)

Because it was so value-packed, we had to trim it to 30 minutes, and I didn't want you to miss out on this fascinating part of the conversation, so I decided to make it a bonus episode.

These thoughts from Eli on co-regulation for parents blew my mind!

I mean, I had heard of co-regulation before, but the scientific evidence behind it is fascinating! I had no idea there were nerve fibers that are activated when I caress my child, and these nerve fibers calm my child's heart down! It takes the old adage "If Mama ain't happy, ain't nobody happy" to a whole new level. 🤯

Eli's explanation of the science behind co-regulation helps me understand why it is so vital that moms proactively do soul-care. It literally helps us build a buffer so that we don't dysregulate when our kids are dysregulated. It's so powerful!

(By the way, I just did a mini episode on soul-care! Click below to check it out!)

Taking care of ourselves helps us avoid losing our tempers and doing and saying things we regret.

If you want to explore managing your anger so it doesn't negatively impact your children's sense of connection to you, be sure to attend my live online masterclasses over these next two weeks on how to "reroute your mom rage." Click below to sign up!
