Ep 210 Rikki James & The fast barndoor

In the early 2000s while trying to figure out what to do with my bus and surfing the Internet I ran across a website called vintagebus.com. On that website was a gallery for people to upload pictures. I ran across Rikki James from England & his 1954 Right Hand drive barn door bus. This bus was sporting big power type 4 with a 2600cc 48 IDA's and Porsche five speed. This bus would serve as a template for me to build my first bus. Rikki's been ahead of the curve for a long time, an avid VW enthusiast and hard-core bus owner. You can sometimes catch him on the autobahn or the M25 in his right hand drive barn door hauling the mail. This bus is no joke and has been on the road since the early 90s! Listen to what it was like in the early days before there was disc brake conversions or narrowed beams and all the other parts and pieces that hes had custom-made for this barn door bus. Did I mention Rikki was doing patina before patina was a thing? He's a trailblazer at all things cool.
