Genetic Testing in Metastatic Breast Cancer in the USA: A Podcast

In this podcast, a healthcare professional discusses germline genetic testing with a patient advocate and answers questions regarding the importance of testing in patients with metastatic breast cancer, with a specific focus on germline or inherited breast cancer susceptibility gene (BRCA) mutations. In the USA, national guidelines recommend that all patients with recurrent or metastatic breast cancer should be offered genetic testing for germline breast cancer susceptibility gene 1 or 2 (BRCA1 or 2) mutations to identify patients potentially suitable for treatment with a poly(ADP-ribose) polymerase inhibitor.  The aim of this podcast is to provide physicians with information to support the early engagement of patients in discussions about genetic testing, and guidance on how to manage patient concerns about the potential implications of testing.  This podcast is published open access in Oncology and Therapy and is fully citeable.
