Michigan-MSU recap: McCarthy, defense, tight ends shine while MSU stumbles in all phases

Release Date:

In this episode, Zach Shaw and Steve Lorenz recap the Michigan football team’s 49-0 win over Michigan State, as well as preview the Wolverines bye week.
They open with a look at JJ McCarthy, and the quarterbacks’ fast-growing Heisman candidacy. They discuss where the junior has grown the most, and the different he can make for the Wolverines the rest of the way. They close out the first half of the episode by looking at Michigan’s stellar tight end play, and what questions or curiosities coaches may be looking into the most during the bye week.
In the second half of the episode, the two debate who Michigan’s defensive MVP might be at this point, with candidates at several positions. They also identify two areas the Wolverines’ nation-leading defense can actually improve during the bye week. They also close with a look at Michigan State and the state of the rivalry, and where a slumping Spartans team goes from here.
