EP 41 | Why Voting Rights are Under Attack with Qasim Rashid

Release Date:

Attacks on voting rights are as old as the U.S. itself. Many people are not aware of the long standing history of attacks on this constitutionally protected right. Efforts to restrict voting access have not abated, and it's incumbent upon all of us to understand how these efforts have evolved over the years. All over the U.S., but particularly in the South and in swing states, there are constant attempts to block ballot access for those who are deemed by some as unworthy to participate in the democratic process.Today, I discuss that history with human rights lawyer, Qasim Rashid. Qasim is a tireless warrior for the underrepresented and the marginalized. His recent run for Congress in his native Chicago left him even more energized and focused on the issues that affect Black, brown, indigenous, LGBTQ and economically disadvantaged people. You can find him online everywhere at Qasim Rashid. The Scenic RouteIf you're not enjoying the ride — why bother?
