107. Emkay Sullivan | Redefining plans, dealing with fatigue and understanding ourselves through running

Release Date:

Emkay Sullivan is a professional trail runner for Craft from Reno, Nevada, United States.
After a long and challenging year full of success but also some setbacks, Emkay decided to put off her final goal of 2023 and not run CIM, California International Marathon.
In this episode talk about the challenge of training, the difficulty of redefining goals and adjusting a plan, how toughness sometimes can be just admitting to ourselves how tired we are sometimes, and how we get to decide whether we can use failure or joy and positive emotions to fuel our motivation to run.
We also talk about Emkay’s experience as a coach, why she still finds it very beneficial to have a coach for herself, how she monitors her training and her athletes’ training, some things that she learned through her coaching experience.
Besides being a pro athlete, Emkay is also the co-host of the sub hub podcast, which is part of the freetrail network and has been a great voice in the trail space to further develop the sub ultra and mountain running interest.
