Bloated & Baffling - Marvel’s Eternals

Release Date:

Marvel’s Eternals might be dominating the boxoff, but it’s also the first MCU film to be awarded a Rotten score on Rotten Tomatoes and there’s a reason for that. Despite some fine acting, engaging fight sequences and elegant cinematography, the film as a whole was bloated and baffling. We felt all two hours and 37 minutes of it. By introducing 10 new characters all at once, we have no time to get to know or care about any of them. Their storylines were woefully inadequate and the amazing actors they cast weren’t able to shine. The amount of exposition thrown at the audience is both overwhelming but also insufficient to adequately explain over 7,000 years of history. We know it’s setting us up for sequels, but the movie would have been better served as either a Disney+ show or if they introduced us to a few characters at a time in solo movies or as cameos in other MCU films or shows. We had a lot more to say about the film, so check out the full video to hear our complete analysis. Be sure to share your thoughts in the comments.
