S2E10: Social Media Culture

Release Date:

Welcome to this week’s episode of The AUSA Podcast! This week we continue our conversation about culture making with Katelyn Bass, the social media manager for @au411, and Braelyn Moore, one of our event coordinators! Today, we sit down to take a look at social media to talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly. We discuss the things that social media makes possible — from good things like education, advocacy, connection, and creative inspiration to bad things like insecurity, comparison, skewed expectations for yourself and others, and hustle culture. We get personal this episode, sharing stories from our own life of the ways we use to view social media, how that effected how we viewed ourselves and others, and how we broke out of that wrong thinking. We also look at the beautiful things about social media! We talk about what it looks like to create new things and cultivate already existent things to be better and more beautiful within a digital context, and how we can find freedom in that.
We think culture is very important, so if you enjoyed this episode or anything peaked your interest, we'd love to start a conversation! Do us a favor and share it with your friends, and if you have thoughts or questions, you can DM us on Instagram @au411. Thanks for listening!
