Release Date:

I sit down with Rep. Alma Hernandez, of the Arizona House of Representatives, to discuss her work. She shares what led her to convert to Judaism in high school, her experiences with antisemitism and death threats, including a run in with David Duke, and some of the obstacles she faced while working to mandate holocaust education. Alma Hernandez (born April 11, 1993) is an Arizona politician serving as a Democratic member of the Arizona House of Representatives for the 20th district. Hernandez was elected in 2018 to succeed Macario Saldate, who was term-limited. She was the youngest woman elected to the Arizona House of Representatives.
