Bad Words, Relatively Speaking

Release Date:

One of our parenting decisions involves how we handle "bad words" as a family. Socially there are some general expectations about cussing and swearing and then there are our individual norms we follow. As a mom who started out trying to censor herself and her kids (and lost that battle pretty early on!) Jodi shares how her thoughts about swearing evolved over time.  She also shares how she thnks of any behavior, cussing included, as a form of communication, expressing an emotion or an emotional need. With a confession of one of her self-awarded "worst mom moments," Jodi illustrates how to read between the lines of bad words for ourselves and others. This episode rounds out with a nod to handle cussing and swearing, just like anything else we do as moms, in the way that feels right to you.
