Treat Your Business Like A Business

Most photographers start their business as a hobby. You picked up a camera, took a few pictures, and then got sucked into the love of the art and science of photography. Then suddenly you find yourself running a full on business. If that’s you, then listen in to learn why you need to treat your business, like a business.    Taking pictures may be the foundation of your business, but your business will only run as efficiently as the processes you have in place. You need systems. You need boundaries. You need operating hours and client experience processes. You need to treat your business just like any other business you’re familiar with.    First things first, take a moment to really dig into the experience you want your clients to have. Think of how you want to be treated as a client and then distill that down into a process for interacting with your clients.    Next, think about you. When do you want to work? How do you want to work? Do you need to hire an assistant? Set up your calendar appropriately and then inform that assistant about your boundaries and your hours.
