Ketan Mhatre: The Biker Man of tennis-ball cricket

Ketan Mhatre started his cricket journey playing underarm cricket before being picked for his village’s tennis-ball cricket team. However, he didn’t get an opportunity right away. He had to be the 12th man for a considerable time but Ketan was clear about what he wanted to do. When the opportunity came, he grabbed it with both hands. His reward for taking his opportunity was a sports bike. First of his many. Today, he has earned so many bikes as prizes, his identity is the ‘Biker Man’ of tennis-ball cricket. केतन म्हात्रेने अंडरआर्म क्रिकेट खेळायला सुरुवात केली आणि हळूहळू तो गावातल्या टीममधून क्रिकेट खेळायला लागला. पण सुरुवातीची काही वर्ष तो संघात जरी असला तरी बरेचदा १२वा खेळाडू असायचा. पण  इतर खेळाडूंप्रमाणे आपल्यालादेखील लोकांनी ओळखावं अशी त्याची ईच्छा होती आणि त्याच जिद्दीतून त्याने मिळालेल्या संधीचं सोनं केलं आणि पहिल्यांदा मोटरसायकल बक्षिस म्हणून जिंकली. आज त्याची ओळख टेनिस-बॉल क्रिकेटचा Biker Man अशी आहे कारण त्याने आत्तापर्यंत ३०हुन अधिक मोटरसायकली बक्षिसादाखल मिळवल्या आहेत. घरच्यांचा आणि कामाच्या ठिकाणाहून त्याच्या खेळाला कायम पाठिंबा मिळाला आणि त्याजोरावर त्याने टेनिस-बॉल क्रिकेटमध्ये आपला वेगळा ठसा उमटवला आहे. इंडियन स्ट्रीट प्रिमियर लीगमध्ये (ISPL) चेन्नई सिंघम संघाने त्याच्यावर ₹१६.५० लाखाची बोली लावली होती. केतन म्हात्रेने हा त्याचा प्रवास उलगडला आहे अमोल गोखले बरोबर कट्ट्यावरच्या गप्पांमध्ये...
