Our Tales of Horror limited series with a chat about 1978’s Halloween, directed and scored by John Carpenter and co-written with producer Debra Hill. Starring Donald Pleasence, Jamie Lee Curtis, P.J. Soles, and Nancy Loomis, the film is set in the fictional town of Haddonfield, Illinois, and centers on a mental patient, Michael Myers (Nick Castle), who was committed to a sanitarium for murdering his teenage sister on Halloween night when he was a child. Fifteen years later, having escaped and returned to his hometown, he stalks teenage babysitter Laurie Strode and her friends while under pursuit by his psychiatrist Dr. Samuel Loomis. In addition to discussing the film, the duo kicks things off discussing the passing of Friends’ star Matthew Perry, the big box office for Five Nights at Freddy’s, sequels announced for The Black Phone and It Follows, as well as Poltergeist TV series being in early development.
