A la dècada dels 50 del segle passat, un tal Harry Chamberlain va inventar un instrument nou que incorporava loops de música preenregistrada en un teclat revolucionari. L'instrument va ser batejat com a melotró, i va decorar moltes de les cançons més conegudes de la història del pop.
