Bert Rigby, You're a Fool

Carl Reiner

Tony Award winner Robert Lindsay stars as Bert Rigby, an English coal miner who sees life as one big musical number, emerging from the mineshaft at the end of the day singing the Fred Astaire classic "The Continental," wearing his helmet as a top hat and carrying his pick like a cane in this musical comedy written and directed by Carl Reiner. It all started when Rigby's mother took him to the local cinema. Now he dreams of stardom--a dream for which he crosses the Atlantic. But once in Hollywood, Rigby discovers that the movies have changed since the days of Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly and no one wants to cast a man with Rigby's song-and-dance talents.

If You're Not in the Obit, Eat Breakfast

Danny Gold

What's the secret to living into your 90s--and loving every minute of it? In this documentary, irrepressible writer-comedian Carl Reiner (who shows no signs of slowing down at 95) tracks down several celebrated nonagenarians, and a few others over 100, to show how the twilight years can truly be the happiest and most rewarding. Among those who share their insights into what it takes to be vital and productive in older age are Mel Brooks, Dick Van Dyke, Kirk Douglas, Norman Lear and Betty White. Other interviews include: Jerry Seinfeld, longevity expert Dan Buettner, and Van Dyke's much-younger wife Arlene.

Heidi Ewing & Rachel Grady

Largely responsible for bold American television in the 1970s, Norman Lear's name is synonymous with the sitcom. From his childhood and early career with his groundbreaking TV success (All in the Family, The Jeffersons, Good Times, Maude) and social activism, Lear proved social change was possible through an unlikely prism-laughter-and created some of the greatest moments in television history.

The Gazebo

George Marshall

Debbie Reynolds and Glenn Ford play a Broadway star and her television mystery writer husband--who will do anything to protect his wife and her honor. So when a blackmailer threatens to reveal compromising photos of Nell Nash (Reynolds) taken long ago, Elliot Nash (Ford) believes he has no recourse but to kill the blackmailer. But after his victim's body is discovered across town, Nash finds himself deeply entwined in a plot as comically twisted as the best of his mysteries when he tries to discover who really murdered the blackmailer ... and who is buried under The Gazebo.

The Russians Are Coming, the Russians Are Coming

Norman Jewison

When a sightseeing Soviet commander runs his submarine aground off the New England coast, the crew's attempts to find a boat to dislodge them almost start WWIII! Alan Arkin leads an all-star cast including Carl Reiner, Eva Marie Saint, Brian Keith and Jonathan Winters in this riotous comedy! Russian Lt. Rozanov (Arkin) and his crew hit the beaches of Massachusetts unaware of the panic they're about to start. Despite the Russians' harmless intentions, the folks in town think a full-scale Soviet invasion has been launched! What's worse, their police chief (Keith) has left his hysterical assistant (Winters) in charge and the one man who knows the truth (Reiner) is only stirring up more chaos!

Fatal Instinct

Carl Reiner

Director Carl Reiner has a comic go at the recent spree of erotic crime thrillers... Cop Armand Assante is assigned to investigate a "kinky" murder. He is also, improbably, the prosecuting attorney. The resident femme fatale in the case is Sean Young. Meanwhile, Assante's wife (Kate Nelligan) is plotting her husband's demise in a Body Heat mode. Tony Randall appears as an (amusing) judge. The effective (if not quite serious) jazz score is performed by Clarence Clemons, who appears onscreen during crucial plot moments to toot his sax. Look for "homages" to Pretty Woman, Cape Fear, Double Indemnity and others, including, of course, Fatal Attraction.

The End

Burt Reynolds

Burt Reynolds stars as a man who loses his will to live after he learns that he has only three months to live. At first he seeks solace from a priest (Reynolds' first confessional in 20 years). The priest's celestial comment is "Wow!" Reynolds attempts suicide -- and fails, waking up from his effort in an insane asylum. He urges a schizophrenic fellow patient to do him in. Failure. Reynolds' doomed journey of self-destruction will encounter Sally Field, Dom DeLuise, Joanne Woodward, Carl Reiner, Kristy McNichol, Robby Benson, Myrna Loy, Pat O'Brien and others. In the end, the "life force" prevails. And Reynolds decides to live, if even for the few months he has left. Burt Reynolds directed himself in this dark, yet often farcical comedy. Music by Paul Williams.

All of Me

Carl Reiner

Now Edwina and Roger are living together in the same body. He's losing his job. He's losing his girlfriend. And he just can't seem to get her out of his system! Steve Martin and Lily Tomlin make the perfect Couple of Comedy in this hilariously concocted plot.

That Old Feeling

Carl Reiner

The wedding from hell just sparked a match made in heaven! Comedy legend Carl Reiner directs the hottest couple of the year, Bette Midler and Dennis Farina in an irresistibly funny, incurably romantic motion picture that celebrates the "lighter" side of love. Happily divorced for 14 years, Lilly and Dan still have one thing in common, they hate each other with nuclear capacity. But after a knock-down, drag-out fight at their daughter's wedding, their pent-up hostility suddenly turns to unbridled passion! Now the two unlikely lovebirds are on the run - with their frantic daughter, her new, stuffed-shirt husband and an appealing paparazzo in hot pursuit.

And play the game like you've got nothing to lose. Are you in or out?

The Jerk

Carl Reiner

Steve plays Navin Johnson, the adopted son of a poor black sharecropper family, whose crazy inventions lead him from rags to riches...right back to rags. Steve propels Navin through a string of misadventures-becoming smitten with a lady motorcycle racer, surviving a series of screwball attacks by a deranged killer, and becoming a millionaire by inventing the "Opti-grab" handle for eyeglasses-and shows why he's one of the hottest comic performers in the world.

Carl Reiner

Carl Reiner

Ocean's Thirteen

Steven Soderbergh
