Muldrow v. St. Louis (Employment Discrimination)
Muldrow v. City of St. Louis Sergeant Jatonya Clayborn Muldrow maintains that her employer, the St. Louis Police Department, transferred her from one job to another because she is a woman. From 2008 through 2017, Muldrow worked as a plainclothes officer in the Department’s specialized Intelligence Division. In 2017, the new Intelligence Division commander asked to transfer Muldrow out of the unit so he could replace her with a male police officer. Against Muldrow’s wishes, the Department approved the request and reassigned Muldrow to a uniformed job elsewhere in the Department. While Muldrow’s rank and pay remained the same in the new position, her responsibilities, perks, and schedule did not. After the transfer, Muldrow no longer worked with high-ranking officials on the departmental priorities lodged in the Intelligence Division, instead supervising the day-to-day activities of neighborhood patrol officers. She also lost ac

#1387: Landscape of XR Ethics: A Retrospective Presentation by Kent Bye
This is a 19-minute talk that I gave at Laval Virtual 2023 that is summarizing the work that I've done on XR Ethics over the past ten years. There's around 60 slides in this talk, and so you may prefer watching the video version over on YouTube for the full multi-modal experience, or this audio-only podcast version includes the Q&A session at the end. And you can also check out the show notes for this episode that has each of the slides embedded within the full transcript along with all of the linked footnotes in case you'd like to dig into the full context of any one of these topics.

There's a lot of ground that I attempt to cover within my 15-20 minute allotted time slot at Laval Virtual 2023, but this should provide a high-level roadmap to how I see the landscape of XR ethics. The

Materia Medica: On expedition with botanist-surgeon John Milton Bigelow
Dr. John Milton Bigelow did not shy away from hard work, challenges, or adventure. At the age of 46, he signed on as surgeon and botanist for the Mexican Boundary Survey, following the U.S.-Mexican War that fulfilled the gold-hungry manifest destiny of the Americans.
This adventure took him through the Chihuahuan, Sonoran and Colorado deserts, where he catalogued the great variety of desert plants along with several other botanists on the expedition — including C.C. Parry, namesake of Parry’s Nolina. The work was so pleasing to Bigelow that he readily accepted similar appointments as field botanist in some of America's wildest lands. But co-founder and CEO Jaydeep Barman says back in 2004 when he and his co-founder Kallol Banerjee started it, they didn’t look at it as a means of living. It existed to some extent, primarily, to fulfil their own craving for good Calcutta rolls as Pune, where both of them were living at the time, didn't have any nice joints for the same.A few years after starting it both of them left it behind to go and do their second MBAs from INSEAD and after completing it Jaydeep went on to work for McKinsey in London and Kallol headed to Bosch in Singapore. But the dream of having their own company brought them back to Pune in 2011 and this time they were serious about making Faasos huge. The trial has begun! Judge Juan Merchan seated 12 jurors and 6 alternates in three days of voir dire. We discuss the pace of jury selection and complicating factors (that strong opinions about this defendant are common and often expressed on social media), plus: Ken discusses his philosophy of choosing a jury as a defense lawyer, why it’s more of an art than a science, and how it will matter that this Manhattan jury is unusually highly educated. We also discuss a question that, as we sent out this episode, remains before Judge Merchan — should Trump be held in contempt for his repeated public statements about witnesses and the jury, in spite of the gag order on him? And we talk about the theories of the case laid out in opening statements from the prosecution and the defense. And amid all this, George Santos has clawed his way back into the news in a small way. You Don't Have To THINK Everything You FEEL
Hey everyone, Dr. Russ here. This episode of The AnxietyRX Podcast hits a little closer to home than usual. My mom's health is declining, and on top of that, I've been editing my book. Let's just say my brain is fried.
Because of this personal situation, you might notice some bumps in the podcast this week. I apologize in advance, and I truly appreciate your understanding.
That being said, the show must go on! And today's topic is something we can all relate to: emotions. You know, those things we sometimes spend way too much time overthinking?
Here's the thing: what if the key to feeling better wasn't about overanalyzing every single feeling, but actually allowing ourselves to feel them?
There's a power in simply experiencing emotions authentically, without dissecting them to pieces.
This episode is for anyone who's tired of being a prisoner of their own thought

167: Channeling Mother Mary
In this episode I share a private practice channeled session with Mother Mary and my friend Deborah. I hope you enjoy and find the information useful.
Mother Mary, also known as the Virgin Mary or Blessed Virgin Mary, holds a central and revered role in Christianity, particularly within Catholicism and Eastern Orthodoxy. She is considered the mother of Jesus Christ, who is regarded as the Son of God in Christian theology. The New Testament provides accounts of Mary's life, particularly in the Gospels of Matthew, Luke, and John.
According to Christian tradition, Mary was a Jewish woman from Nazareth in the region of Galilee. She was betrothed to a man named Joseph when the archangel Gabriel appeared to her, announcing that she would conceive and bear a son by the power of the Holy Spirit. This event, known as the Annunciation, marks the beginning of the Incarnation, the belief that Jesus, as the Son of God, took on human form

322 Life-Changing Study Abroad Experiences
Although I never studied abroad myself I have no doubt at all that I would have loved every minute of it - and my three guests today certainly remind me of all of the many ways a study abroad experience can be life-changing.
I start off chatting with Pam Petro who studied a graduate program in Wales, and not only learnt something from her course but began a lifetime obsession with all things Welsh.
Next, I speak with Brandon Miller who studied abroad in France. He has now co-founded the Too Fly Foundation which helps students from under-privileged backgrounds access experiences like study abroad programs, as he recognised how valuable and life-changing they are.
Finally, I talk to Alex Zeringer, who was a student I met while he was studying abroad here in Perth at Murdoch University, where I teach (among other subjects) podcasting - it was so great to catch up with him now that he's back at university in Ireland.

In this episode we go inside the hyperbaric chamber, and ask everything you’d ever want to know about actually going in! Or, as owner and operator Mitch Hall puts it, “going down”.
The hyperbaric chambers are used not only to treat scuba diving related injuries, but heal wounds and have other benefits to your health. He explains what it all means, how they work, and has some very surprising stories about some past divers that got into trouble (and a cautionary tale to those cavalier divers out there!)
