Voices (1979)

Robert Markowitz

An up-and-coming Hoboken nightclub singer who wants to be a rock star falls in love with a shy young deaf teacher who aspires to be a dancer in this romantic drama. Rosemarie Lemon's (Amy Irving) family doesn't believe in her dreams, but sensitive Drew Rothman (Michael Ontkean) does, and they become lovers. Their common ambitions and need for support make their relationship stronger. The soundtrack includes tunes by Burton Cummings, Tom Petty, and Willie Nelson. This is reputedly the first film to be entirely shot in New Jersey since the silent film era.

The Tuskegee Airmen

Robert Markowitz

The 'fighting 99th' was the first squadron of African-American U.S. Army Air Corps combat fighter pilots in WWII. When they began training, few, if any, in the Army wanted them there. They had to prove that they were stronger, tougher, smarter and better fliers than most white pilots...and they did! Laurence Fishburne (1993 Best Actor Oscar(R) nominee for 'Whats Love Got to Do With It?') stars in this high-flying drama as a Chicago law-school graduate whose determination to serve his country led him to intense training in Tuskegee, Alabama...and into action in the dangerous skies over North Africa and Europe. Co-starring Allen Payne, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, Courtney B. Vance, Andre Braugher, Christopher McDonald, John Lithgow as Senator Conyers and Cuba Gooding Jr.

Avenger

Robert Markowitz

You can run, but he will catch you. You can hide, but he will find you. Former Special Forces war hero Cal Dexter is a secret gun for hire. Driven by the tragic deaths of his wife and daughter, he makes it his mission to hunt down the thugs and war criminals governments refuse to bring to justice. But his current quest could interfere with a CIA sting, and that puts a target on Dexter's back. He is both hunter and hunted. Sam Elliott stars as Dexter in this suspense thriller based on the novel by Frederick Forsyth (The Day of the Jackal) and executive-produced by Wolfgang Petersen (Troy, Poseidon). Timothy Hutton portrays the CIA handler ordered to make Dexter disappear. And Panama, Washington DC, Bosnia-Herzgovina and South Africa provide the settings for a gripping tale of justice with a vengeance.
