The Wrecking Crew!

Director: Denny Tedesco
Release Date:

Music lovers will be astonished at the influence The Wrecking Crew wielded over rock and pop music in the 1960s and early 1970s. These unsung instrumentalists were the de-facto backing band on hit records by The Beach Boys, Phil Spector, Frank Sinatra, Nancy Sinatra, Sonny & Cher, Elvis, The Monkees and many more. These dedicated musicians brought the flair and musicianship that made the American “West Coast Sound” a dominant cultural force around the world.

Amazing

I just returned from seeing this movie with my wife and 15 year old son, and it was all we could talk about on the drive home. Just so well done and it gives you such a better understanding on how the music and record industry worked in the 60's. And to think, most if not all of these musicians started out knowing nothing about Rock & Roll. A smile from Beginning to End. Lastly, if you loved this movie may I suggest "Twenty Feet from Stardom" about the backup singers who also played on so many memorable hits.

The Construction Crew, too.

I watched this through iTunes tonight. I enjoyed it so much! Now, I have another layer to the way I listen to music, and to the musicians from the era this documentary covers. I had to take screenshots of the end credits so I can make sure to find the songs that were referenced and listen again with a better informed ear. What a great tribute from the son to his dad, Tommy Tedesco, and to the rest of The Wrecking Crew. This film has prompted me to go back right now and re-watch The Funk Brothers doc, "Standing In The Shadows of Motown".

Not quite as good as anticipated

The stories were ok, overall seemed a bit disjointed. Would have liked to see more in-depth about the making of some of the actual tracks. The movie on the the Motown Funk Brothers was better example of how to tell this type of story.

Astounding! Not to be missed!

This is one of the best documentary’s I’ve ever seen. These songs had a huge impact on my life. I’m a professional musician who grew up hearing most of them on the radio and listening to them on vinyl over and over trying to learn to play the guitar I had no idea (at the time) that most of the bands didn’t play their own instruments. Finding out from this movie that "The Wrecking Crew" played on practically every song I heard was mind boggling! Kudos to Denny Tedesco for his intense labor to finally get this released after 18 years of effort!

LOVE LOVE LOVED!!!!

Saw this in the theater yesterday and was absolutely entralled. The soundtrack of a lot of our childhoods. Ah to be part of such an exceptionally talented group of musicians. I am so happy this documentary was made. I just wish I could have sensed that the rest of the audience (predominantly Babyboomers) was as excited as I was. I could barely contain myself and sad I wasnt sitting next to someone who was as moved as I was!!
