The Warriors

Director: Walter Hill
Release Date:

A battle of gigantic proportions is looming in the neon underground of New York City. The armies of the night number 100,000; they outnumber the police 5 to 1; and tonight they're after the Warriors—a street gang blamed unfairly for a rival gang leader's death. This contemporary action-adventure story takes place at night, underground, in the sub-culture of gang warfare that rages from Coney Island to Manhattan to the Bronx. Members of the Warriors fight for their lives, seek to survive in the urban jungle and learn the meaning of loyalty. This intense and stylized film is a dazzling achievement for cinematographer Andrew Laszlo.

Great Movie, but... DO NOT GET IT ON ITUNES!!

Needless to say this movie is a classic, however, you can buy this at Target right now for 7.50, with the actual case. So what would you rather do? Would you rather buy this and only have the file on your computer, or have the sweet cover to stare at all day for LESS MONEY!!!

Cult Classic Allstar

The Warriors may be a camp conceptual ballet choreographer's vision of street life, but it still rocks the bells. The names, the music, the design, the simple story (and don't forget those jackets) are flick knife sharp. Why don't gangs this uber kuhl exist anymore? Because they never did, or can't you remember that, old maaaan?
On the train journey home, contrast the affluent optimism of the young couples, laughing with flowers after the big show, with the filthy, bedraggled and hopeless ghetto pride of Swan and his desperate squeeze. Only one side of the carriage looks embarrassed, and it ain't the Warriors, baby.

CAN YOU DIG IT!?!?

If you haven't seen this one then youre missing out on a classic. It was a great movie when I was a kid and still a timeless classic.

this movie absolutely rules

Excellent reviews by all. I've seen the Warriors like 20 times since childhood and have never stopped being nuts over it. I cannot give a rational explanation for why this film gets to people but it just does. It was written by the Marxist novelist Sol Yurick and so there's a feeling throughout the film that there's a mass of downtrodden, impoverished youth waiting to rise up, and a sense of rooting for the underdog. The fashion and style in this film kick butt, and the filmmaking is amazing- it feels like a surreal fantasy film even though it's set on the gritty streets of 1970's NYC. One critic called it "visual rock". This is a classic that only gets better and better with time. Make sure you watch it!

WARRIORS, COME OUT TO PLAAAAAAAYYY!!

This movie is a true classic. It gets better everytime i see it. Everytime I watch this movie, it makes wanna play the game, which is also a classic!!!
