The Son

Director: Florian Zeller
Release Date:

Peter (Hugh Jackman) finds his already-hectic life upended when his ex-wife (Laura Dern) appears to discuss their teenage son, Nicholas (Zen McGrath), who has been missing school for months and is deeply troubled. Peter strives to take care of Nicholas as he would have wanted his own father (Anthony Hopkins) to have taken care of him, but the rigors of raising a new son with Beth (Vanessa Kirby) and a new position at work makes him lose sight of how to hold onto Nicholas. THE SON is a compelling cautionary tale from director Florian Zeller (The Father) about a family struggling to reunite after falling apart.

Powerful film!!! Hugh J Rules!!!

Powerhouse performances by Hugh, Dern and Hopkins. Must see cinematic diamond ? in the rough. Grade: ?

Boring!!

One of the most boring movies I have ever seen. I liked Hugh Jackman’s acting well enough, but the weak script, lifeless characters and meandering plot were beyond Jackman’s reach to save the flick from absolutely flatlining. And the great Anthony Hopkins’ ridiculously brief appearance was completely unnecessary, adding zero interest to the story.
