An idealist tries to save the elephants from extinction from hunters. He enlists the help of a dubious group of followers.

The movie lacks coherence and characters are poorly developed. It is really sad that while filming a story exposing the decimation of elephants in Africa, director John Huston decided to go hunt on a safari. This frame of thinking becomes evident when the main character defending the elephants declares that the "others' are right, because he lost one of his friend who was shot by people supporting poaching. His reasons for giving up protecting these animals don't hold up because he actually fell victim to the poachers continuing their search for ivory and simply admits defeat. Probably an excuse to justify the safari.
