Reality being what it is, it’s sometimes difficult to tell a true story without it failing to meet all the critics’ expectations. Too bad. This movie tells the story of a crew who were lost to the fate of many fishermen who work the stormy Atlantic Ocean, but who made a valiant attempt to survive weather that unexpectedly sealed their fate in a real-life drama (and took the lives of Coast Guard personnel that searched in vain for the crew in heavy seas and, due to weather so violent that midair refueling was made impossible, also perished after their helicopter ditched after running out of fuel). Critics pooh-pooh stories of courage, heroism, and self-sacrifices made so that others may live: too bad. This is as real as it gets.

This is ones the bests movies that I have watched in a long time, Leadership, fellowship and comradeship, unifying the man in a major life surviving, just awesome. I felt disappointed in the end, but I give up, life is what is, there is no what if the end was different. I am touched, for this movie.

I rented this movie On Demand about three months ago not really expecting much. sure it has Mark Wahlberg and George Cloony so it HAS to be good. well i didn't think about that much. In the first 10 minutes it sets up the storyline like any other movie. But after that u see the movie is almost entirely taking lace out at sea. You may think this sounds boring. I mean, 5 or so guys on a fishing boat just hanging out and all? The movie does have this but it's mostly non-stop action and suspence. I would give this movie 20 stars out of five if i could. This movie diserves an Oscar.

The ending destroys the movie. Have the writers, producers, director ever been in, say, a Hawaii surf and felt the power of the ocean. Yet here are guys running around the deck holding sheets of plywood in 200mph wind and climbing masts with waves abouve them. Nonsense!!
