ACTING ACTING ACTING

A+ acting on Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson's parts. Very raw and you could feel the emotion vibrate under your skin. They took many small details from the book and stuck them in there brilliantly, along with explaining the things they left unmentioned in the previous movies(for those who hadn't read the books). They also brilliantly portrayed deceased actor Philip Seymour Hoffman's character (Plutarch Heavensbee) brilliantly in this movie. The movie was a bit long, two and a half hours atleast, and there were quiet, boring parts that made me yawn, but all in all, it was brilliant. Out of the three movies now out, I would say it ties in first place with Catching Fire for being the most popular. Francis Lawrence is doing a fabulous job. Can't wait for part 2

A New Kind of Masterpiece

The ending of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which I watched numerous times since its release, last year, have kept me waiting eagerly for this follow-up and I can tell you that I watched it two times in a row because I was mesmerized by it. However, If you’re gonna watch this expecting high-tech, crazy fashion, beautiful buildings and breathtaking scenery along the lines of the arenas, the capitol and the general look of of the first two movies, you won’t find this here. Yet if you loved the characters and how their personality is developed and you care about the general story, you’ll feel totally immersed and impressed by it. The movie unfolds in a different way. You’ll notice that a lot of characters from the main cast have changed in a noticeable way. From arrogant to kind, from superficial to deep and from hero to villain. The visual and the scenery of the movie are all different from the past ones, yet as I said, as long as the story is your main focus, you will enjoy it greatly. You also need to remember that this movie is the first part and the next one is coming next year, so you will certainly feel that the ending is sort of unsatisfactory or gives you the feeling that you’re watching a T.V. series. Yet if you watch the movie itself with an open heart and the will to watch the story unfold the way it’s meant to be rather than just trying to copy the past movies, you will truly feel the beautiful taste that the writer, the director and the actors intended to deliver to us. There are so many moments that brought tears to my eyes. Moments of heroism and bravery, moments of sorrow and victory. The acting is nothing short of impressive. The suspense will keep you at the edge of your seat throughout most of the film. If I’m to give one disadvantage about the movie, it’s the length. The movie is a bit short compared to it’s marvelous predecessors and the length of the past two was one of the main factors of their success and beauty cause they give you enough time to enjoy and be immersed into the world. However, the experience all in all was extremely satisfactory that I watched it twice in a row and went straight away to iTunes to pre-order and review it, and the moment the movie ended, I thought “Oh my God, 365 days left for the sequel! can someone create a time travel device?”.

Have You Read the Books??

To those who complain that this is a darker, disturbing, horribly long, boring film, I must ask: did you read the books at all? If you had, you would know that that is exactly the feel of the book - including the "boring". This is about a war, people. This isn't the same film where Katniss and Peeta are enveloped by the Capitol and it's influence. It's not glamorous or happy. It's dark and real and raw - just like war. To those complaining about the film being boring or too dark, then you miss what, not just this film, but the entire series is trying to tell you. And if you can't figure that out, then go back with the perspective of being in the districts and then perhaps you can understand why Mockingjay is as dark as it is.

Not the greatest…. at all

This movie was a huge disappointment. The first 2 were really great but I feel this was poorly written and Jennifer Lawrence’s acting was quite bad. The writers should not have split the last book into 2 movies. It’s obvious it was a move to make extra money and that is sad. Due to that, this movie suffered.

The Emperor has no clothes.

Clearly, the viewers love it… Why? Virtually nothing happens in this movie. There is no advancement of the plot and no real character development. If you enjoy 2 hours of Jennifer Lawrence’s intermittent “screech crying” followed by her pondering life while thoughtfully gazing upward, then this is the film for you. Otherwise, it is silly filler... although it would make a good Subway commercial- “Oh Peta, bring back Peta!"
