Kate (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Charlie (Aaron Paul, TV’s “Breaking Bad” ) are a young married couple whose bond is built on a mutual love of music, laughter and drinking...especially the drinking. When Kate’s drinking leads her to dangerous places and her job as a school teacher is put into jeopardy, she decides to join AA and get sober. With the help of her new friend and sponsor Jenny (Octavia Spencer, The Help), and the vice principal at her school, the awkward, but well intentioned, Mr. Davies, Kate takes steps toward improving her health and life. Sobriety isn't as easy as Kate had anticipated. Her new lifestyle brings to the surface a troubling relationship with her mother, facing the lies she's told her employer (Megan Mullally TV’s “Parks and Recreation” ) and calls into question whether or not her relationship with Charlie is built on love or just a boozy diversion from adulthood.

Totally biased film review because this movie made me think of that song "Killing Me Softly" ... it hit too close to home and seemed to tell my story. So I can vouch for the authenticity of it, the respect that the performers and storytellers had for their material. It was a beautiful movie and Aaron Paul ultimately delivers. This'll stay with me for a long time.

This is a great film that deserves more recognition. Even if the story was terrible (which it wasn't) or all the supporting actors were bad (which they weren't) this film would still have been a great film thanks to the performance of Mary Elizabeth Winstead, she deserved an Academy Award Nomination and more attention from this film, she proves that she could be one of the top actors in hollywood today, in my opinion she gave the best performance of the year. Everything was great about this film the only negative thing i can say about this film is that it ended i just didn't want to leave the theater yet because I was so attached to the story and characters. This film is another great example of why independent films can be better than big budget films. See this FILM!

I really enjoyed this movie. I hadn't heard of it and rented it on a whim. It was superbly acted and I felt myself being very drawn into the story. I really cared about the characters. I would recommend it - definitely something "different" than your typical Hollywood dramas.

The story of alcoholism can not be told over the course of a single film. It is ongoing, it spirals, and has more beginnings than ends. This movie took many truths of alcoholism and Smashed them together. Things get worse before they get better with alcoholics. Alcoholics don't learn they have a problem until after they 'think' they might have a problem. Alcoholics must choose between giving in to their old lives or accepting a bleak future of sobriety, and we never got to see the choice she makes at the end of the film. I think anyone that has known an alcoholic can appreciate this movie.

Great movie
