Amazing movie

More Than Thriller

"Thriller" is too anemic a label for this film. High drama with dark humor, betrayal and pathos delivered along with a curiosity of where it all leads, these are all too rich for such a label. Saltburn’s joyously unconventional script nimbly side-steps cliché while the narrative drives sumptuous cinematography. Nothing but strong performances to be found but Keoghan, Barry Keoghan absolutely owns his character. The man is searingly fearless. At times the viewer may feel they are intruding on the proceedings, becoming more of an uncomfortable witness than an anonymous viewer. Saltburn does haunt days later and possesses a not dissimilar psychological weight akin to Kubrick’s work. Even if you’re not terribly interested in the subject matter --and it’s not always easy to watch as director Emerald Fennell’s ideas can be disturbing-- Keoghan’s performance should not be missed. Emerald Fennell, also gave us Promising Young Woman and with Saltburn, she’s now on my automatic must-watch list.
