Man, this is just a beautiful movie. I saw it once before, and I admit I did not pay close attention. About a year later, I heard some of the music from the soundtrack and I loved it, but still did not get around to properly viewing the film. Then one night a few weeks ago, I picked it up at the video store, and now I am completely in love with this movie. The atmosphere that this film creates really draws you in, and the plot keeps you engaged the whole way through. If you're not a die-hard love movie junkie (as I am not) but can appreciate a good film regardless of genre, this movie is sure to entertain you. But if you happen to be a huge sucker for love stories, well... then your head may explode due to an inability to release so many tears simultaneously. I can attest to this because even I was teary-eyed during more than a few scenes. It's a wonderful film, with great acting, music, atmosphere, and plot. You won't regret buying this movie.

Memoirs of a Geisha is by far one of the most moving, powerful stories in existence. I'd read the book before I'd watched the movie, and the book enthralled me. Its description of aspects of Sayuri's/Chiyo's life put into metaphors and similes had me smiling throughout. So, naturally, I was a bit worried that the movie would be a gross understatement of the book, or that it wouldn't be like the book at all. I was wrong. From the moment I walked into the movie theatre to the moment to the credits started rolling, I couldn't tear my eyes from the screen. It was like watching a work of art being made. The story was just as powerful, just as moving, in the movie as in the book, if not more so. Sure, there were some deviations from the book that irked me just a bit (ie: Sayuri/Chiyo seeing the Chairman at 15, before becoming a Geisha, etc). However, the movie moved me just as much as the book did, and it is not a film that you'll soon forget.

I've heard from a lot of critics this movie is bad, to read the book and not see. I disagree, I thought this was a wondreful adapataion from the story. I still suggest reading the book first, it will help to make sense, but I think you should buy this movie, it is wonderful!!

I love the moive very much and read the book afterwards. I do not know when the last time I sat and watched a moive without moving but this moive had my eyes and ears. i loved the detail the cloths the actors and actoress. Very nice job all on moive.

This is by far one of the best movies I have ever seen. The setting, characters, and the music revolving the story fit so well together!! The movie catches the audience's attention right from the beginning!! A story of hate, and the will and power of True Love come together in this powerful movie.
