Into the Woods (2014)

Director: Rob Marshall
Release Date:

Into the Woods is a modern twist on the beloved Brothers Grimm fairy tales, intertwining the plots of a few choice stories and exploring the consequences of the characters’ wishes and quests. This humorous and heartfelt musical follows the classic tales of Cinderella (Anna Kendrick), Little Red Riding Hood (Lilla Crawford), Jack and the Beanstalk (Daniel Huttlestone), and Rapunzel (MacKenzie Mauzy)—all tied together by an original story involving a baker and his wife (James Corden and Emily Blunt), their wish to begin a family, and their interaction with the witch (Meryl Streep) who has put a curse on them. Rob Marshall, the talented filmmaker behind the Academy Award®-winning musical “Chicago” and Disney’s “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides,” helms the film, which is based on the Tony®-winning original musical by James Lapine, who also penned the screenplay, and legendary composer Stephen Sondheim, who provides the music and lyrics.

Love it

Love it it's kinda boring but Meryl Streep omg she is my fav character in this and the movie is so awesome

2 hours I'm never getting back

This was the worst movie I've seen in a long time. I can't believe it has so many great reviews. The cast is fantastic but they don't belong in this badly written movie. When I heard the songs were written by the guy who wrote the Wicked songs, I vas excited, but when I heard them, I was completely disappointed. The worst script ever and the worst movie ever. Thanks.

BEST MOVIE I'VE EVER SEEN❤️

I loved it so much can't even oh man I wanna see it again so bad❤️❤️❤️

Great for theater people

I loved this movie a lot. However I went with my whole family, and they are not theater/musical people. They made it into a comedy when we saw it opening night. I have been doing theater and acting for a long time so I loved musicals. It's great for the family and for all types of people

Don't Hate Disney For This

Stunning movie for one of the best musicals out there. While they cut some of the best parts out of the musical out, I can see why Disney did it (to make it more family-appropriate and to make the movie shorter). The actors did a great job and the picture was beautiful. I am surprised at how many people are bashing Disney for this movie. Everyone needs to understand that ITW was an already existing musical before the movie was released, and that it is NOT meant for young audiences, it's geared towards an older age group! You should have read reviews before taking young children to see this, because just because it's Disney doesn't mean it's for kids. Nonetheless, this was one of my favorite movies of 2014.
