You're an Idiot

If you buy/watch this movie expecting some sort of grand historical recreation with incredible billion dollar cinematography equating out to harry potter for adults you’re an idiot. If you watched the trailer you will see that this is an over the top retelling of an old fable for the sake of being over the top, fun, action packed and even comedic. This is for entertainment purposes and if you’re watching this for some ground breaking revolution you completely missed the message. Renner is carrying around a fantasy shotgun for crying out loud, what are you people expecting? If you watch this movie for what it is “Thrills, Sex and Blood” you will love it. If you watch it because you have nothing to do but tear apart movies for something they weren’t even going for, well as I have already stated: you’re an idiot. Learn to enjoy a movie for crying out loud, your over (or rather under) analytics isn’t impressing anyone.

HONESTLY, IT'S NOT THAT BAD.

So many film critics tend to overanalyze what these horror-fantasy movies are all about. They're just meant to be big, silly, over-the-top fun, and in a nutshell, that's exactly what this movie's entire purpose is. It isn't trying to be ambitious or tell a complex story. I mean, it's called "Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters" for crying out loud. There's dumb comedy, gleefully over-the-top violence, and even a talking troll. What more can you ask for? Well, a lot more, I guess…but you get the idea. Sometimes, it's just fun to completely turn your brain off for a little while and take in all the mindless blood, silly dialogue, and campy action from a film like this. At the end of the day, this is a purposely trashy guilty pleasure of a flick and nothing more. Just as long as you don't overanalyze it, you should have a good time.

Surprisingly Enjoyable

When I first heard that there was going to be a movie called "Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters," I thought it was the stupidest thing I had ever heard. When the first trailer came out, it looked a little bit better than I expected, but I still had no interest in seeing it. But when I found out that it included strong blood and gore, I thought that it couldn't be TOO bad. And surprisingly, I ended up enjoying it. Yes, it is cheesy for the most part, but it's a fun and bloody movie. A lot of people are comparing this movie to Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, saying they both start out fast and then get slow for the rest of the movie until the climax hits. I disagree. I thought this movie had better pacing than AL:VH. Although I did enjoy this movie, I really don't like how they emphasize pretty much every fight scene in the trailers. There really wasn't anything new to see when I actually went to see it (besides a few scenes). But overall, I had a fun time with Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters, and if you're looking for a fun movie for a movie night or whatever, look no further.

Just a fun ride!

If you're looking for a movie that makes you contemplate the universe, pass on it. If you're looking for a movie that has any technical authenticity, pass on it. If you're looking for a fun, everyone gets their backsides kicked movie with a sense of humor, I can't recommend this movie enough. It's a wild, fun ride that will hold your attention throughout. It's very violent, but it never gets gory. I just can't stress this enough, it's just a fun movie, provided you are just expecting to watch a fun movie. For what it is, this movie deserves five stars. To compare it to The Godfather and China Town, I can only give it four stars.

Finally!!!!

I have been waiting for Hnasel and Gretel to come out for a long time. This is a great twist for adults who enjoyed the story as a kid. It cannot be compared to the childrens book seeing as how this is a continuation of that. People who complain saying it is to bloody and profane, if you were captured by a witch who tried to eat you I bet you would slaughter them. Great fun movie
