Friends With Benefits

Director: Will Gluck

Dylan (Justin Timberlake) and Jamie (Mila Kunis) think it's going to be easy to add the simple act of sex to their friendship, despite what Hollywood romantic comedies would have them believe. They soon discover, however, that getting physical really does always lead to complications.

This generations "When Harry Met Sally"...

"Friends with Benefits", not only was funny, but the two leads, Justin and Mila, actually had chemistry on screen. They made it believable the connection and more. It was kind of like a modern version of "When Harry Met Sally", in how the characters first met and interacted the first 24hrs together. Another movie with a similar name, staring Ashton and Natalie, felt forced in their acting. Natalie was so monotone in her voice, that I thought she could take Ben Steins role from "Ferris Bueller" with how well she didn't change the tone in her voice throughout the movie. I mean she acted BETTER in the movie "Thor" than in "No Strings Attached". Anyway, my point is that "Friends with Benefits", was a very mature RomCom that really kept true to some realistic situations that most 20-somethings encounter. Where as "No Strings Attached" was like a low budget porn flick with really horrible "funny" verbal conversing between ALL the characters (they added all the funny scenes in the trailers/tv, so there was nothing funny to laugh at because everyone had seen the scenes over twenty times from the promotions they kept doing for months). I loved the scenes of Mila's character and her mother interacting, especially when she walks in on them banging and then is all "It's like the 70's, heeyyyy... it's all good", lol stuff like that is funny. But there were moments with some of the other characters that made this movie watchable. Also both Justin and Mila were very animated with their scenes, especially their faces, which made it even more funny to watch them together. Something that can't be found from the two leads in "No Strings Attached"; wish the director told them to use their faces more to express what their characters were feeling, even if it was horny feelings, it would have sold the idea of liking the movie better. I had to turn off "No Strings Attached", 40 minutes into the movie as well, which says a lot about the movie's storyline. I kept waiting for the tone of the actors voices to change and for the storyline to have something other than naked butts and grunts floating around on screen. At least in "Friends with Benefits", when there was naked'ness going on, they made it FUNNY! Even Justin had a scene on the toilet, naked and make it hilarious! (His role in "Bad Teacher" was way worse than any role he has ever had in acting, I feel so bad for that guy!). Anywoo, money is well spent when renting this movie. Don't buy it unless you LOVED this movie.
