Take it as a Parody

This movie is more bearsble if you accept it as a parody on some of the controversial issues that surround the privatized space industry and military contractors. Additionally, some of the military stereotypes are funny. On the other hand the love triangle nonsense was bad. I also felt like the director expected us to know the backstory to the characters based on awkward silences between them.....draining....except the husband's awkward silences. Those where hilarious.

Laughably bad...

Truly. Lets put a bunch of pretty actors in an exotic location (that has no exotic people of course) with an incomprehensible plot and pretend it’s a real movie. It’s boring and bland and pointless. And the worst part is them trying to say Emma Stone is of Asian descent. I like her as an actress but she’s whiter than wonder bread.

Terrible

It was pointless, had poor representation, and no sense of the native culture. I mean, really, guys? You couldn't even have the slightest ring of truth around it? Nothing? I'm deeply disappointed. The concept is supposed to be "a love letter to Hawaii?" No. Don't say that when you could've done better.

Layered and perfect.

This is a movie. Let us move past the casting of a none Hawaiian. Everything about this movie was so layered and real. Real human struggles, to be good not only for yourself but for others and let's face it that's hard. Simply put it was beautiful, imperfect and crazy at times but worth the watch. As always the soundtrack fit the mood every time.

Let's be Real!

I was raised in Hawaii & hearing all the controversy this movie stirred up just because of the title "Aloha" made me want to see it that much more. First - to say the movie represented the meaning of the word "Aloha" in a negative light is crazy to me, this is a great feel good movie that does give you the warm fuzzies of ALOHA! Second - I have heard people say that how can there be a movie called Aloha but have no real Hawaiians in it...are you kidding me! The MF'ing King himself is in it! And the movie gives perspective of military in Hawaii, so of coarse they are not all going to be Hawaiian bc let's face the reality - there isn't many real Hawaiians left! Hawaii is a very diverse place & what Hawaiians are left have all breed with other ethnicities, that's why the term "Hapa" came to be! And THIRD - people being appalled at the idea of Emma Stone being a quarter Hawaiian...that's the joke of the movie! Everyone in Hawaii wants to be Hawaiian, you know how many Haole's I know that claim to be a quarter Hawaiian, all of 'em! Bradley Cooper & Rachel McAdams even joke about that fact IN THE MOVIE! So if you couldn't see the joke then you obviously have never been to Hawaii & didn't pay attention! Point is this, it's a great movie & after I left consolidated theaters I couldn't wait for this movie to come out for purchase! See it, visit the islands & give Aloha! And then carry that Aloha back to the mainland with you!
