The Mitchells vs The Machines
An old school father and his plugged-in, filmmaker daughter struggle to relate as their family embarks on a road trip to her new college. Their drive is interrupted by a machine apocalypse that threatens to tear these unlikely heroes apart unless they can find a way to join forces and save humanity.

I thought they were gonna release it in theaters but they canceled it because of Covid-19. But I’m glad they release it because now they’ve got special features. I thought they never gonna release it.

This movie is amazing, but adding to that to get that phenomenal lift, is their inclusion of LGBTQ characters with stereotyping them, and not cramming it down your throat. It's very subtle, never taking away from the story line or even being discussed, but merely showing the people (kids and adults both) that this is how people are in the real world and more often than not you don't know someone is LGBTQ,. Shows the life and natural acceptance and never making the child feel bad for being her, and only focus on the child's behavior and actions. Coming of age story for a child, and wake up cal for a father to reconnect to his daughter because he was losing the relationship that means everything to him and her mom, but emulating the ways of yore and not sharing verbal validation of love, support; and respecting, will make a child doubt they are loved and shut down. But that a little effort to change of behavior (dad) and opening yourself up to let love in can make you feel complete and unite you with everyone (daughter). I'm 42 and my daughters are twin, 13 year olds, and we loved and rewatched this movie countlessly, and would love to own it, because we love it so very much!!!
