A League of Their Own
Tom Hanks, Geena Davis and Madonna star in this major-league comedy from the team that brought you Big. Hanks stars as Jimmy Dugan, a washed-up ballplayer whose big league days are over. Hired to coach in the All-American Girls Baseball League of 1943, while the male pros are at war, Dugan finds himself drawn back into the game by the heart and heroics of his all-girl team. Jon Lovitz adds a scene-stealing cameo as the sarcastic scout who recruits Dottie Hinson (Geena Davis), the baseball dolly with a Babe Ruth swing. Teammates Madonna, Lori Petty and Rosie O'Donnell round out the roster, taking the team to the World Series. Based on the true story of the pioneering women who blazed the trail, on the fields and off, for generations of athletes.

Baseball Movies @vantag
This is one of those movies that comes to mind when I think about baseball. This movie was recently voted the best baseball movie of all time in our Local newspaper. It's got all the elements of a great movie. It's funny but also sad. I need to see this at least once, when baseball season starts. Now I can watch on the iPod and not get...."are you watching this again?". This movies has sisters, girlfriends and rivals, what more could a girl ask for? I attend National Pro Fastpitch games. They are a very small league and attendance SHOULD be better. Softball players have a league of their own too, but no Mr Lowenstein to promote it. This is a great flick and truly a classic. If you've never seen it, check it out, you won't be disappointed. If non basball lovers, can enjoy this movie, it's a winner.
