Master Gardener

Director: Paul Schrader
Release Date:

Directed by Academy Award® nominee Paul Schrader (First Reformed, The Card Counter) based on his original screenplay, Master Gardener follows Narvel Roth (award-winner Joel Edgerton), the meticulous horticulturist of Gracewood Gardens. He is as much devoted to tending the grounds of this beautiful and historic estate, to pandering to his employer, the wealthy dowager Mrs. Haverhill (three-time Academy Award® nominee Sigourney Weaver). When Mrs. Haverhill demands that he take on her wayward and troubled great-niece Maya (Quintessa Swindell) as a new apprentice, chaos enters Narvel’s spartan existence, unlocking dark secrets from a buried violent past that threaten them all.

Best movie

Must watch

Excellent Finish to Trilogy

Absolutely beautiful, timely, and relevant. Bookends perfectly with First Reformed and The Cardcounter. What are seeds? Which do we nurture? How do they evolve? Worth watching several times to understand the nuances.

Really bad

No plot. Script could be written in three sentences. Absolutely nothing about this movie is Interesting or believeable for that matter. The acting was atrocious and having an 80 year old S. Weaver with the lead character half her age was repugnant.

No secret in this garden…at least not any worth making a film about.

Paul has let us down with this one. Boring, confused and uninspired. Save your time and money.

Really terrible

Never got started. Deadly dull.
