Once is the inspirational tale of two kindred spirits who find each other on the bustling streets of Dublin. One is a street musician who lacks the confidence to perform his own songs. The other is a young mother trying to find her way in a strange new town. As their lives intertwine, they discover each other's talents and push one another to realize what each had only dreamt about before. Once is their inspiring story.

good couples movie for folksong lovers

Not many movies have the music in such a prominent role. This not unlike a Hard Days Night in that the storyline is secondary to the score. Not exactly a musical as none of the dialog is sung. This tale features a chance joining of diverse musical talents to fashion a demo disc. For several days their powerful love of music brought them together. Its easy to see how couple are drawn to one another but what happens when commitments intrude?

Once

I first watched Once in quite possibly the smallest theater ever, with about only four other people. My friend told me to watch it, (I had never heard of it) and the fact that there were only four people in the theater didn't quite encourage me that it would be anything to write a review on iTunes about. I was wrong. Once is the most beautiful film I have ever watched. The story is unique, the homemade quality to it is a refreshing thing that you almost never see in films today, and even if Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova aren't skilled actors, their performance is still touching, and their chemistry is amazing. The music was undoubtedly the best part. The music the two make together is touching and sorrowful, and because of the music, this film has become my favorite. I have become a huge fan of the two actors/musicians, and have bought both the soundtrack to this film, and the album they made before the film, The Swell Season. Ignore the R rating as well; a huge mistake. Once is rated R only for language, so don't worry about any nudity or explicit content. In a summer where so many sequels and high-production movies were released, (Shrek 3, Pirates of the Caribbean 3, Spider Man 3), Once is a great example that you don't need a huge budget to make a wonderful film. It's awfully hard to persuade someone to go see a film through words, but believe me, give this film a shot; you will not regret it.

Once

My wife works for a video rental store, I was in the store looking for something good for us to watch togrether & agravarate her until she got off work. When I came across this movie Once, I yelled to her ( payback she's usually yelling at me) have we seen Once she said no the rest is history. We laughed, we cried, we laughed, we cried, we were curious about the age difference which really didn't seem to matter, but mostly we smiled. Bought the soundtrack, bought the DVD, now I'm renting it to watch on itunes with me workmates. Iv'e told everyone I know about the movie if they are like me they will want to see it more than ONCE.

Incredible!

This is one of the best films I've seen in a very long time. No violence, no mayhem, just passion and light. An amazing film about the love between people and the reality of relationships. The film draws you in to the realness of the characters, the pure, raw emotion and power of music and power of love. I highly recommend you see this amazing film.

Classic film

This movie is going to go down as one of the most memorable and endearing movies ever made. Everyone I know who has seen it says that it's in their top 10 favorite movies. Part love story, part musical, it's a tender blend that transcends genre stereotypes. Take the time to watch it. If you like music then I promise you that you will love it.
