The Holdovers
From acclaimed director Alexander Payne, The Holdovers follows a curmudgeonly instructor (Paul Giamatti) at a New England prep school who is forced to remain on campus during Christmas break to babysit the handful of students with nowhere to go. Eventually he forms an unlikely bond with one of them — a damaged, brainy troublemaker (newcomer Dominic Sessa) — and with the school's head cook, who has just lost a son in Vietnam (Da'Vine Joy Randolph).
Loved it @BeholdDLam
A great classic movie that feels like how good well rounded movies were made back in the day. Acting was great and the story line was interesting enough for you to want to find out what happens till the very end.
Best movie of 2023 @Radarman122
This is the best movie I have watched this year! Thought provoking and extremely well acted!! I am going to rent again!!
Phenomenal @jryseinfld
Giamatti for best actor period. Full stop. This is a role meant for Paul. What a fantastic and heartwarming experience. On my top spot for 2023 films. A must see.
One of the year’s best @Maxibo
This film is so well crafted. It’s funny, it’s touching, it’s smart. Feels like a Hal Ashby film in look, feel and tone. I highly recommend. This is coming from a filmmaker who is extremely critical of most new movies.
One of the best movies of the year! @Afurokhan
Forget Barbie and Oppenheimer. This film has heart and humor. Highly recommended! Enjoy!
