PMIs show narrowing US-Europe gap, Inflation Day for Australia

Wednesday 24th April 2024NAB Markets Research Disclaimer Financial Services Guide | Information on our services - NABPMIs showed some strength in Europe, but were generally weaker than expected in the US. NAB’s Taylor Nugent says it’s the US numbers that generated a market reaction because it adds to the leading indicators that challenge the notion of US exceptionalism and that the gap between the US and Europe is closing. Today the quarterly CPI print for Australia is unlikely to move the dial on RBA cuts, even if it comes in slightly lower than expected. “I think we are headed for human-centered AI where we have the human at the core, and you are going to augment your capabilities with technology to make your work better. That is where it is going.” - Darshan Deshmukh, President at ProcureAbility Procurement is acutely aware that emerging technologies like AI are already having an impact on the profession and will change the role and function of procurement even more in the years to come. While some in procurement are embracing, or, at the very least, accepting the new AI-powered future of procurement, others are somewhat more resistant or even fearful of the changes ahead.  To explore how procurement can and should be thinking about and integrating AI into their delivery model of the future, Philip Ideson recently spoke with Darshan Deshmukh, President at ProcureAbility, while they were at ProcureCon Indirect West in Las Vegas, NV.  As a part of their wider d

NL-Day113 Joshua 4-5; Psalm 69:1-18; Acts 20:17-38

JOSHUA 4-5:In yesterday’s reading, Joshua sent out two spies. Rahab, who was a prostitute and later became an outstanding example of God's grace, protected them and eventually became a full member of Israel. The people of Israel crossed the Jordan miraculously on dry ground— even though the river was in flood stage, as Joshua leads following God's instructions. PSALM 69:This poem contains words that were quoted about Jesus (v. 4 and 9). Those verses give us an inside view of the nature of Jesus’ suffering while on earth in his public ministry. ACTS 20:In yesterday’s reading, Paul left Ephesus and prepared other churches for his departure. In Troas, Paul preached all night. Eutychus had trouble staying awake. And today we will hear all of Paul's speech at Miletus to the elders from the church at Ephesus. NLT Translation notes:Josh. 5:13 When Joshua was near the town of Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standi

InvestED: The Rule #1 Investing Podcast

Phil Town & Danielle Town

461- Buffett's Bertie

As detailed in the most recent edition of Berkshire Hathaway’s annual shareholder letter, finding success in value investing doesn’t require fancy credentials, obsessive research, or exploitative scheming — it takes common sense and the willingness to keep yourself informed about your investments.

In a world full of people rabidly vying for your attention in every imaginable arena, knowing how to focus that attention on what’s important while weeding out the noise of the pundits and snake oil salesmen is what separates successful investors from the rest of the pack.

In this week’s show, Phil and Danielle get a bit more granular on the most recent Berkshire Hathaway shareholder letter and discuss what separates Bertie Buffett from her competition.

49 - Things that are "Normal" to HSPs

As HSPs, we move through the world differently to others, but as a community of highly sensitive beings we share much in common. Have you ever found yourself struck by a beautiful sunset, unable to look away or perhaps moved to tears by an interaction with another soul? These moments, though deeply moving, can sometimes leave us feeling self-conscious or "different" in public settings, as we glance around to gauge others' reactions, checking to see if anyone else gets it.
In this episode Philippa and Robbie discuss many feelings and experiences that are entirely normal for HSPs. They remind us of the invaluable gift it is to be deeply sensitive, allowing us to attune to the energy of the world around us, a capacity that sets us apart from others.

We turn the pages of time back to arrowheads of the Shawnee and earlier native peoples; then even further back to 300-million-year-old fossils. Half way we switch to Mike's life, starting with his stories of an annual snapping turtle party, followed by his earliest boyhood memories of being a primitive hunter armed with only rocks.  We close on hellbender tongues, making buckskins and a proud fath

MORE PRECIOUS Than Gold?

At some point in history, humans decided that gold was intrinsically valuable. And ever since then its symbolism has grown in culture to a point where the actual word 'gold' became shorthand for 'something really valuable.'
The goose that lays golden eggs.
The man who turned everything he touches into gold.
Even ancient concepts like the golden ration and golden rule.
What about today? Are things about to change?
