Celebrating The Black Beauty Effect with Andrea Lewis

Welcome to my last episode of the year, beautiful people! I know this may be disappointing for some of you but your girl needs to fill her cup. Throughout these first two seasons, I've talked to countless women about the power of the pause but if I'm honest, I haven't taken one for myself and it's time. I don't have an exact return date but when I do come back to the mic the timing will be divine, so I thank you all for listening, for sharing, and being a part of this community of Black women founders, creators, and innovators.

This week on the She Did That. Podcast, I'm in conversation with Andrea Lewis. You may know her from her acting roles in Degassi: The Next Generation or Black Actress but today, I'm talking to the Ontario, Canada native about her latest role as the creator and executive producer of The Black Beauty Effect. The three-part, first-of-its kind docuseries examines the Black women who are serving as catalysts for social change within the beauty industry and premieres exclusively on Black Experience on Xfinity this week on November 25th.

P.S. It's not too late to join us for the She Did That. Holiday Bazaar in NYC on December 3rd. Get your tickets today at shedidthatholidaynyc.eventbrite.com!

I'm really proud of what Brittany is building with IGL Nails and can't wait to have her as a merchant at this year's She Did That. Holiday Bazaar here in New York City! If you're ready to shop over 40 Black women-owned brands and be intentional about your holiday spending, this is the place to be on December 3rd. Grab your tickets at shedidthatholidaynyc.eventbrite.com and get into this super inspiring conversation with one of this year's vendors!

Feel the Fear & Do it Anyway with Felicia Walker

This week’s guest is none other than the one and only Felicia Walker of This That Beauty. You may know Felicia as the undisputed queen of skin care and beauty for women of color. Curiosity Is Your Superpower with Melissa Butler

Curiosity Is Your Superpower with Melissa Butler

Melissa Butler, is a Detroit native who has skillfully and strategically launched two start-up beauty brands, The Lip Bar and Thread Beauty, into nationwide phenomenons. Melissa obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Finance from Florida A & M University before going on to work on Wall Street as a licensed stock broker. Her journey from stocks and bonds to beauty is one that she describes as natural, not because she loves makeup, but because she was frustrated with the industry and therefore created a solution.  She wanted to create a brand that would be inclusive, non-toxic and easy to use so that everyone could see themselves as beautiful.

Black women can and should take up space!

Just started listening to the podcast and loved Renae’s interview with Brianna Arps. I love how both of these women are demonstrating that black women should be bold and seen, and that we have the permission to take up space here in the entrepreneurial space. Such a great show!
