We are a few days removed from the Colorado Avalanche season coming to an end by the hands of the Dallas Stars. Have we come to terms with that yet, or do we feel like this years Avs team went as far as expected? Maybe the bigger question is, was this season a failure? For a team that has championship aspirations every year, you could say it was.

So what does the offseason bring for the Avs? That is the million dollar question. It will no doubt be one of the more interesting ones for the team. And in the center of it all will be the Val Nichushkin situation.

The Colorado Avalanche had their chances, but couldn't break through against the Dallas Stars, who an old nemesis in Matt Duchene found the back of the net to end the series in six games.

The Avs seemed to find their game over the past two games, but it was too little too late as they needed so many things to go right for them for three consecutive games against a very strong Stars team.

So the question is what happens now? There are many questions around this Avalanche team heading into the off-season.

Just about everything was going against the Colorado Avalanche. Just about nobody expected them to be able to continue their season especially when the Dallas Stars were looking to end the series on their home ice.

But this is why there is nothing like playoff hockey. The Avs come out of Dallas with a 5-3 win and now will go back to Denver for Game 6 looking to even up the series at 3.

The Colorado Avalanche have their backs against the wall and we will see how they respond when the go into Texas to take on the Dallas Stars for Game 5 of their second round series.

Obviously, they won't have the services of Val Nichushkin as he has begun serving his six month suspension. Some Avs players shared their thoughts on the matter after Game 4, and they were a little eye opening.

The Colorado Avalanche learned shortly before puck drop that Val Nichushkin, their best player in these playoffs, was suspended for six months due to going back into the players assistance program for a third time. What the future holds for Nichushkin off the ice is obviously not known right now. But on the ice, it is a massive loss.

It showed in Game 4 with the Dallas Stars, who now hold a 3-1 series lead after their 5-1 victory.

Not only were the Avs down Nichushkin, they were also down Devon Toews. A late scratch due to an illness, we will have to wait and see if Toews can return for Game 5.
