In Perth / Boorloo, Canada came from behind to defeat the Republic of Ireland which knocked The Girls In Green (Na Cailíní I Nglas) out of the competition.

In Group C, Spain thrashed Zambia 5-0 to qualify for the last 16 and knock the African side out of the competition in the process.
The Athletic’s Laia Cervelló Herrero was at the Auckland / Tāmaki Makaurau stadium and gave us her thoughts at the final whistle.

Spain’s win later in the day in Group C meant that Japan also qualified for the knockouts. 

The 2011 world champions defeated Costa Rica 2-0, a result which also knocks Costa Rica out.
