Patience & The Long Game

There's a high likelihood that you'd like to decisive, a master of quick decisions which lead to the perfect outcome every time. In an emergency situation, maybe that's the right call. In reality, you might just look like a loose canon.

For most of us, our business strategy is part of a story that unfolds piece by piece over a very long time. In this storyline, patience rules and, when you build a reputation as a thoughtful leader, you just might be the hero.

We're not suggesting that if you take it slow everything will turn out fine; we're saying be intentional about your thought process and consider the impact of you decisions. Will this make an improvement today, this quarter, this year, this decade? Who will be impacted and how will they respond? Have you gathered some alternate ideas from your personal board of directors? Are you investing enough time working on this project? (spoiler: if your project is writing "The Origin of Species" then 28 is the right amount of time)
