The Future of Freight is Rail

As decarbonization efforts gain importance, it's clear that transport emissions will be increasingly scrutinized. Shifting freight from trucks to rail, known as modal shift, is a common way to immediately reduce emissions. But are the current rail systems prepared for such potential growth? That's the question being answered today by Matt Soule, CEO of Parallel Systems. Matt leads a group of mission-driven engineers building autonomous rail vehicles (ARVs), designed to enable existing rail infrastructure to capture market share away from the truckload market. Matt joins host Tyler Cole to discuss the company's origin, how his experience as a SpaceX engineer led him to a first principles approach to freight network decarbonization and optimization, and what's next for the company.
