Release Date:

On today’s podcast I speak with photographer William Albert Allard. Bill started his career at National Geographic in 1964 and has contributed to 44 Geographic articles as a staff, freelance, and contract photographer & writer. In this interview I speak to Bill about his first assignment for Nat Geo documenting Amish culture in rural Pennsylvania as well as his approach to gaining the trust of his subjects. Bill is well known for his photos of the American west documenting cowboys, ranchers, and the rural culture of places such as Montana, Wyoming ,and Nevada. I’ve always enjoyed Bill’s work for the richness in color and his ability to really immerse himself into whatever subject he’s photographing. William Albert Allard was recently awarded the lifetime achievement award from the National Geographic society and is largely regarded as one of the greatest living photographers working today. I was really pumped to get the chance to speak with Bill so I hope you enjoy and thanks for listening!
