Joker

Director: Todd Phillips
Release Date:

“Joker” centers around the iconic arch-nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. The exploration of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.

Great movie!

Pay zero attention to the negative reviews. They are just from crybabies who hate.

Wish More Superhero Films Were Like This

This is NOT a comic book “Avengers” style film. Batman is not in it. Neither is Harley. Now that we have that out of the way... This film is about a mentally unstable man drove to the frayed ends of (what could be perceived as) sanity. You see him slowly go mad and turn into the character known as Joker. Mr. Phoenix deserves an Oscar. The score deserves an Oscar. This film was incredibly well done and should be recognized. Speaking of recognition, as much as I cannot stand Robert DeNiro’s politics of late, or all of Hollywood in general, I loved his small, yet important character. This film will separate the comic fans from the rest. If you go in looking for Joker’s in previous movies, you may be sorely disappointed. My wife and I love comic movies, but this was real-life and zero Hollywood fantasy.

Joker is a rare cinematic achievement

Joker is a heartbreaking and, at times, shocking origin story - yet so much more. While director Todd Philips presents this cinematic achievement through a gritty 70's lens the sociologic and character themes are truly timeless. Acting virtuoso Joaquin Phoenix appears to have eclipsed his most storied performances (such as in The Master) with what will likely be an indelible impression on film history. Sit back and prepare to be blown away.

Don't Bother

Without a doubt, this is an absolute waste of 2 hours of my life I will NEVER get back. If you want to watch a "movie" about mental illness, rent a docu-drama. Shameful!

Joker

I usually overeggagerate a lot of the movies I review. And usually, I give more positive reviews on things than negative. I am easily forgivable for the occasional bad movie, but this one was a movie I had to clear my conscious of. I didn't want all the press and early reviews to cloud my judgment on what I PERSONALLY thought of the film. So after seeing it, what do I think? I believe the hype. It's a true modern day masterpiece that deserves all the praise it gets and none of the hate from naysayers. Phoenix gives a performance that rivals Ledger's and brings something never before seen to the comic book world. Todd Phillips has proven that he no longer needs the frat-boy comedies and that the world of dramas is where he thrives best. Lawrence Sher, the man behind the cinematography, has brought to life some of the most gorgeous shots I have ever personally seen, even rivaling Roger Deakins from Blade Runner 2049. The score by Hildur is ecstatic and terrifying to listen to. I really love this movie, from its story -- while familiar -- fits within the world that has been established, to the acting FROM EVERYBODY, to the greater themes of bad days, society, and madness itself. It's sad to say that we will never get another look into the world of Joker because this movie left me wanting more, and that's a truly amazing thing for a movie to do. If it leaves you wanting more, then it did its job. Joker is a masterpiece, a true statement on the culture of cinema, and I hope that everyone who receives a nomination wins it, because this movie deserves it. And for the love of God, send in the clowns. Ha ha ha ha ha ha. HA HA HA. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!
