Implanted
Sarah, a struggling young woman living in Brooklyn, agrees to volunteer as an experimental test subject for a pharmaceutical company called Dynamic Health Cure to be implanted with the LEXX nanochip. Sarah hopes that the money received for her participation will solve her financial troubles and help her to take care of her mother who has Alzheimer’s. A nanochip is implanted in her cerebral cortex. It is designed with artificial intelligence technology to take control of the body at the inception of any disease or illness. When the implant turns sinister and orders her to commit crimes, Sarah is plunged into a murderous spiral with only one choice: to live or die.

Such a coincidence that a film like this is released during these odd times. The film keeps you on edge literally from beginning to end. The actors do a great job with their respective roles. Very convincing in high intense moments. The direction is on point when fast and gritty pace is necessary and subtle moments are needed. Great independent filmmaking at its best compared to some high budget films out there these days.

What I loved about this film was the rawness and real feel it brought. Michelle Girolami delivers superb performance. I really enjoyed the direction and cinematography as well, so beautiful shot. Dark subject and intense.

As my title says the main actor Michelle really got me into this. I usually avoid thrillers but wanted to give this one a chance especially because I liked the premise, between stuff like the smart phone health apps and those smart health rings that monitor everything and even tell you when to get up and move makes this movie seem plausible. But wow I felt like I felt all of Sarah’s pain, stress, fear, confusion, frustration and anger.
