High Life
Monte (Robert Pattinson) and his baby daughter are the last survivors of a damned and dangerous mission to the outer reaches of the solar system. The crew—death-row inmates led by a doctor (Juliette Binoche) with sinister motives—has vanished. As the mystery of what happened onboard the ship is unraveled, father and daughter must rely on each other to survive as they hurtle toward the oblivion of a black hole. A staggering and primal film about love and intimacy, suffused with anguished memories of a lost Earth, High Life is a haunting, thrilling achievement from visionary director Claire Denis.
Underwhelming @Heregoes3/
I watched the trailer twice before buying. I LOVE A24 movies combined with Mia Goth as an actress caught my attention but this was overall a disappointment. The best parts of the movie were in the trailer and the overall message of the movie was lost. I’m happy to support A24 movies but they fell short on this one.
Unique deep space character study provides much to ponder @Rhythm Oriented
Set in deep space, High Life finds a unique way to raise the following timeless question: How will humans act when there is no hope? The answer is shocking at times. Robert Pattinson's lead performance in this film is terrific, and Juliette Binoche's menacing presence creates a palpable tension that punctuates this otherwise slow burn and and thought-provoking gem. Although viewers looking for quick payoffs may find High Life off-puttingly slow, I believe that French Director Claire Denis' accomplishes the mission of telling a story that will provide much to ponder...and revisit with additional viewings.
Boring @Sedar2000
The main idea to watch a movie is to have good time and entertainment.this movie was so boring and dull .could not finish it .do not waste your money.
Great Movie @FurdTerguson
Has a "Solaris vibe" to it.
Still thinking about it @Constantin Reader
Challenging, thought-provoking, a worthy successor in the dystopian space genre to Tarkovsky's Solaris, and is more adventurous in many ways. Not for the faint of mind. If you're looking burn off another 5,400 clicks of your three-score-and-ten, rent Jackass.
