Candyman (2021)

Director: Nia Dacosta
Release Date:

Oscar® winner Jordan Peele and filmmaker Nia DaCosta unleashes a fresh take on the blood-chilling urban legend: Candyman. For decades the housing projects of Chicago's Cabrini-Green neighborhood were terrorized by a ghost story about a supernatural killer summoned by repeating his name five times into a mirror. In the present day, artist Anthony McCoy (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II) moves into the neighborhood, now gentrified beyond recognition. Anxious to maintain his status in the art world, he begins to explore the macabre history of Candyman, which unknowingly unravels his own sanity and unleashes a terrifying wave of violence that puts him on a collision course with destiny.

Be Critical not Apathetic

Using the term “woke” to stigmatize someone else’s perspective is immature and offensive. It feels dehumanizing…just like “the race card” because after all, for many of us racism isn’t a game. If you are going to criticize a movie, criticize it for its plot structure. Not because you are offended by the realities that many of us face.

A racist endeavor from start to finish..

Forget Candyman, the real villain of this piece are white folks. Also, a terrible remake of a sub-par B-movie. Absolute garbage from a racist producer. I won't watch or endorse Birth of a Nation ever again, and the same applies to this filth.

Trash

Can you believe it... another woke movie!!! This one is anti police. Can’t wait to look back on this era of movies and wish they hadn’t inserted leftist politics into everything and ruined what could have been a pretty could slate of flicks. I felt like a total sucker for paying to see this in the theater. If you dig defund the police then you’ll have no issue.

Really

This was one of the most racist movies I have ever seen in my years

What garbage movie.

I had high hopes for this movie. The movie started good but progressed to the lefts agenda with all cops and white people are bad. We all know racism and gentrification exist but to kill off only white people and cops in the movie is tasteless and racist.
