Ambulance
In this action thriller directed by Michael Bay, veteran Will Sharp (Yahya Abdul - Mateen II, Candyman), desperate for money, turns to his adoptive brother Danny (Jake Gyllenhaal, End of Watch) for help. A career criminal, Danny instead offers him a huge score. But when their heist goes awry, the desperate brothers hijack an Ambulance with a wounded cop and EMT (Eiza González, Baby Driver) onboard. Will and Danny must evade a city - wide law enforcement response, keep their hostages alive, and somehow try not to kill each other, all while executing the most insane escape LA has ever seen.

For some reason, I thought this might be good - like Heat meets Speed…nah. Even with my brain checked at the door this stuff was pretty darn dumb. I’m talking just as dumb as TV procedurals, but with a bigger budget. The performances are fine, it’s not horrible and it’s somewhat entertaining. I guess I was disappointed there wasn’t even one great and memorable action sequence, just a whole lot of redundant car crashes, which after the first 1.5 hours of the film gets rather boring. I’d say this is the perfect film to watch drunk or heavily medicated after a massive surgery, otherwise your brain won’t forgive you.

Way, way, way too much quick editing along with annoying rapid-fire "cool" camera angles attempted to create the illusion of action, but instead, took the movie away from us… I literally felt like I couldn't "see" the movie. The well-trodden "friends/brothers from childhood" scenario was starting to get old back in 1984's Once Upon a Time in America", let alone 35 years later done by an over-stimulated hack. I didn't care AT ALL about the characters, the movies premise was utterly ridiculous and the editing was so "slight of hand" it took away my vision. What else was left to ruin? Nothing.
